*****The Deceased Pet List includes descriptions of the animals and the location at which they were found. This information may be of a sensitive nature and is intended to help provide closure in the loss of a pet. The site does not contain any pictures. The animals listed were found deceased prior to being picked up by Orange County Animal Care or were euthanized very soon after impound because they were severely injured and/or ill and were determined to be irremediably suffering. If you have lost your pet, we encourage you to first look through our Lost & Found pages and also your local area shelter to determine if your pet has been found.

Report Animal Abuse

Every person who maliciously and intentionally maims, mutilates, tortures, or wounds a living animal, or maliciously and intentionally kills an animal, is guilty of an offense punishable by imprisonment in the state prison, by a fine, or potentially by both. Every person who overloads, overworks, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance, drink, or shelter, cruelly beats or subjects any animal to needless suffering is guilty of a crime punishable as a felony (CPC 597).

How to Report Animal Abuse

If you would like to discuss or report animal abuse, please call Animal Care Services at (714) 935-6848.

You may file an anonymous report; however, any personal information shared will be kept confidential.

What to do when you find a lost pet

Check if the pet is wearing a collar and has a tag or a license. Take the pet to a shelter (care center) or veterinarian to scan for microchip identification. Make a flyer and keep the flyer simple and to the point. List the major cross streets where the pet was found since people are more likely to know where those are. A description of the pet – Breed, color, size, and any unique characteristics, License number, microchip number, and a description of their collar (if applicable) and a clear picture of the pet. Post the flyer, pictures of the pet, and the location you found it on Craigslist, Pawboost.com, Petharbor.com and social media sites like Facebook and Nextdoor.

Attempt Rehoming

Thanks to websites like adoptapet.com, you can become your pet’s adoption agent, listing them and reviewing applications from suitors. Check out their rehoming site here: https://rehome.adoptapet.com/
